AI Maturity Is Not a Score
The score describes the position. The decision determines the direction.
An AI maturity assessment tells you where the organisation stands against a defined set of capabilities.
Useful.
But the score is not the outcome.
Leadership still has to decide:
What matters now?
Which capability gap constrains the business outcome?
Where should investment go?
What should stop or wait?
Who owns the decision?
A maturity assessment becomes useful when it reduces uncertainty around a decision.
Otherwise, the organisation gets another heatmap, another roadmap and another list of initiatives.
The better question is:
What decision should this assessment help us make?
Maturity is useful when it creates focus.
The score describes the position.
